Helping Thai & Migrant Communities
Lunch Programme
Child-TRAC helped fund a meal programme to ensure that all migrant children attending school in Takua Pa to Khao Lak received a free lunch and healthy snacks through out the day. Often children were so poor that they would go hungry and so not be able to focus. In addition to this we also supplied meals to all children attending our own nursery in Pak Weep, which were made on site in our specially designed kitchen.

School Bus
Child-TRAC fundraised to purchase a vehicle to ferry Migrant children to and from school and nursery under our school bus project. We also teamed up with another local organisation called Foundation for Education and Development FED, to ensure that no child is forgotten. Without transportation many would be unable to leave their remote camps and communities and would instead be left all day unsupervised while their caretakers and all adults went off to work.

Clothing & Mosquito Nets
The project allowed children and their families to sleep safely in their corrugated houses and temporary accommodation at night. Although Malaria wasn't prevalent in Phang Nga, Dengue Fever was. A simple mosquito net ensured that children were less likely to get sick and even potentially die from preventable illnesses.

Mobile Library
When our 'School Bus' wasn't in use during peak times, we would often use it to drive in to remote areas and lend out books and magazines in Thai, Burmese and English to migrant communities. This allowed them to stay informed about local events and news items, or learn and home school with their children.

Medical & Dentistry
Medical care and dentistry is not free in Thailand and almost impossible for undocumented migrants to access. We offered an 24/7 emergency phone number to communities, so that they could call for transportation to the local hospital with a team who could advocate and translate for them. We would then often assist with medical expenses if necessary.

In our nursery in Pakweep we taught children about dentistry and the essential life skill of brushing their teeth twice daily. We supplied tooth brushes and made it part of their regular routine after lunch when attending our day-care centre.

Education & Trainings
Child-TRAC was often asked to administer local trainings to other charitable organisations, education centres and even government officials. One of our largest and most successful training was in partnership with UNICEF when we were asked to roll out the SOK - Speak Out Kit training to key stake holders across the six Tsunami-affected provinces dealing with orphans and traumatised children.
Home & Life Construction
Child-TRAC regularly supported a local Thai orphanage called Home & Life with their living expenses and overheads. We also frequently volunteered with our staff and international supporters by teaching English classes, and assisting with their cafe construction project.
Home & Life was run by a Thai couple and their family who took in over 35 Tsunami Orphans and helped them live in a cosy home environment that nurtured play, education, life skills and farming.

Lunch program for 50-60 children at the learning centre where they receive a necessary education, but often went without food, due to a lack of funding. Child-TRAC sponsored lunches and healthy snacks so they could focus on their studies

Transportation
A lot of migrant children were unable to attend school or our childcare facilities due to transportation issues. In response to this we organised a school bus service with another local organisation in the Phang Nga province called FED.
