Childcare & Education
Pakweep Children's Nursery

Background

After the devastating Tsunami December in 2004, UNICEF requested Child-TRAC to trace all tsunami orphans is Thailand.

As a result of gathering information, researching and interviewing we developed a methodology to trace and locate thousands of orphans (Thai orphans)

During this research we discovered that also thousands of Burmese migrant children lost a parent.

Child-TRAC Nursery

A day care centre for 50 Burmese children in the age 1,5 up until 5-6 years

Project Overview

The goal of this nursery was to provide education and care to children who would otherwise be left alone to fend for themselves and miss out on the opportunity to progress

Local Partners

Nutrition & Hygiene

Our objective was to make sure that all families were educated about nutrition

Transportation

Our School bus enabled children to get to and from school every week day so that they didn't have to walk for miles or miss out altogether

Lunch program for 50-60 children at the learning centre where they receive a necessary education, but often went without food, due to a lack of funding. Child-TRAC sponsored lunches and healthy snacks so they could focus on their studies

A lot of migrant children were unable to attend school or our childcare facilities due to transportation issues. In response to this we organised a school bus service with another local organisation in the Phang Nga province called FED.
